WHY IS MILANTOAST ECO-FRIENDLY?
FULLY REPAIRABLE
You will notice Milantoast products are able to be disassembled with a screwdriver, ensuring every product is repairable and parts can easily be replaced.
100% MADE IN ITALY
100% of Milantoast products are hand-built in Sulbiate on the outskirts of Milan.
SUPPLY CHAIN INTEGRITY AND LOW CARBON FOOTPRINT
95% of Milantoast suppliers are located in and around Milan. The remaining 5% are from other locations in Italy and other countries within the EU.
Milantoast products are mechanical by nature, so there is no need to add to the supply chain for imported electronics.
This reduces the need for additional shipping and transportation, for a minimal carbon footprint.
RECYCLED MATERIALS FOR A CIRCULAR ECONOMY
Milantoast original toasters are manufactured from the recycled aluminium alloy EN46100, which is foundered from scrap metal, creating a circular economy. This is so much better for our environment to reduce the need for mining of bauxite, and reduce the power needed to process the aluminium and reduce the greenhouse gases used in production, and reducing
the resources, chemicals and clean water needed for processing.
For example, to produce 1Kg of aluminium from the mined mineral bauxite, it takes 14KW to process. To produce 1Kg of aluminium from scrap, it takes only 0.7KW to process. Therefore, recycling aluminium saves 95% of the energy needed to produce it from the mineral. In addition, aluminium is able to be 100% recycled over and over, without any degradation of quality.
Milantoast cast iron grills are manufactured using recycled stainless steel, and off-cuts are again recycled for re-processing.
ENERGY AUTONOMY AND A CLEAN FACTORY
Thanks to its solar-panelled roof, Milantoast is energy autonomous.
All products are hand-polished, so no detergents, solvents or other pollutants are used to clean their products, keeping the environment clean.
PRODUCTS ARE ENERGY EFFICIENT
Milantoast has also put a lot of care into the energy consumption of its products. For example, Milantoast original toasters have four independent elements, so when you toast one slice, you only use 50% power. Other toasters typically use 75% power for one slice.
Milantoast grills feature long-lasting stainless-steel elements using optimal power for consistent and continuous output. Milantoast glass-ceramic products (for commercial use), use infrared elements, to heat up faster and thus reduce continual energy consumption.
PRODUCT RECYCLING
If a customer chooses not to repair a product, all metal parts of the product are recyclable, and it is easy to recycle these appropriately because the products are so easy to disassemble.
Plastic is used in Milantoast products for cool-touch comfort and safety. Milantoast uses two kinds of plastics, a durable plastic, and a soft-touch, easy grip plastic. Unfortunately only one of these is recyclable, and recycling of these plastics is very often unavailable. Cafeco will continue to work with Milantoast and report if this situation changes.
The wiring and its pvc coating is fully recyclable in Australia.
PACKAGING
All products are safely boxed using packaging made from 100% recycled cardboard and paper. No polystyrene or additional plastics are used in the carton.

LONG-LIFE, FOOD-SAFE, NON-STICK FINISHES
Milantoast cast iron grills have a completely food-safe, natural ceramic non-stick finish, which is infused into the iron at the end of the casting process. It's 100% PFOA and micro-plastic free unlike many other finishes. The natural ceramic finish also protects the plates from the salt and acid corrosion which makes them even longer-lasting.
LONG-LIFE, FOOD-SAFE, NON-STICK MICA ELEMENTS
Milantoast original toaster elements use a continuous nickel-chromium wire which is affixed to micanite board. On the facing side, the elements are protected by pure, natural mica stone.
Mica stone is a natural material which looks like the thinnest sheet of glass. It’s completely food-safe, can withstand high temperatures and prevents elements from being snapped by jagged bits of toast. Food slides off into the crumb tray below, keeping the elements clean for a longer life.
